Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th in 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her first EP, Pho on October 21 2016, was released by Dreamville Records. She began to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the web, including her own release single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs for the Dreamville Team later in the year, as he wanted Rihanna to be able work with her on some references. It was announced on December 8 she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016, her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she went on to guest feature on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream of the album came out the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. On the 13th of November, two brand new singles titled No One and pedigree. She appeared with Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16, and then released the song in a solo version for her first album. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 to accompany the track. Within the first period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
